Anonymous asked: Tips for someone wanting to start sports photography? Good camera? How are you able to get up and close on the track to take photos?
Honestly…you just need to be passionate about the sport you want to shoot. I completely fell in love with motocross two years ago, and originally i wanted to become a journalist. So i kept up with all the latest news about it and learned as much as I could. From there I picked up a camera, and because I’m so well informed with how the sport works and who I’m shooting it makes my job that much more exciting.
I use a Nikon D2H to shoot…and I don’t have any problems with it…its the only camera I’ve ever used, and no complaints here.
Now for how close I get, that really depends on the track. The one tricky thing about motocross is that the riders are going at a high speed, and accidents do occur. I try to get as close as I can to the berm of a turn for example, but not close enough to where I would put myself or the rider in danger. It all just depends on the track you choose to go to and the layout of it.
